FULL MOON Mind - High Tide, Share
14th January, 9:26 a.m., Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Sidereal Zodiac: Punarvasu Nakshatra in Gemini (Gemini Pada)
CELEBRATE and express appreciation for all that we have.
WANING
Share, give back, contribute abundance.
Empty and release and let go.
Then RETREAT to restore and re-energise at New Moon.
This full moon calls us to discern and test the ideas and stories in our mind, to understand how our belief systems work and to question in healthy ways and not follow by blind faith. Then hold in our heart a deeper truth and faith in life. Aditi is the nurturing goddess deity of Punarvasu. She symbolises that aspect of our human nature where we create prosperity and nourishment by living our life in rhythm with nature and natural law, and value what we already have by restoring, reusing, refining. Punarvasu in Gemini in the Gemini pada has strength with direct observation without judgement. We are supported at this time to keep a clear intellect, broaden our awareness, and notice and appreciate the unstoppable strength of diverse skills working together on a common goal of well-being.
BALANCING Body
Southern Hemisphere Season: Rainy season.
Dosha: Moderate Pitta
Seasonal qualities: Warm-hot, intensity, dryness, increasing heaviness, increasing moisture.
Predominant Taste: Sour
Balance with opposites: Bitter, astringent, moderately salty, smaller quantity, light, warm.
Balance your individual metabolic type within the seasonal qualities and energies. Note that seasonal junctures require attention and diligence to dynamically balance observable qualities with opposites. It is good to stay close to our body, listen, feel, and pay close attention to what it is showing us, and what we are thinking and feeling. Then take necessary action for personal balance and well-being.
Food suggestions: Stir fries are good. Rice Biryani dishes. Dhal with chappatis. Vegetable and lentil casseroles with flatbread. Pasta with basil or parsley pesto. Hummus with homemade lavosh. Seasonal whole fruits eaten just as they are. Fresh steamed greens. Steamed food. Warm salads with mixtures of seasonal vegetables and salad greens.

RECIPE
Lavosh Biscuits
Source: Annabel Langbein, "The Free Range Cook"
This is one of my teenager's requested treats! She has loved it since Grade 5 when it was a favourite at class parties. Thanks to Annabel Langbein we were inspired to make this quick and easy crispbread-come-biscuit, and it doesn't last long because the moorish flavour means that it is eaten up quickly by all those who try it. You can vary the ingredients with your preferred herbs, seeds, and spices. We have tried sesame seed, poppy seed, nigella seed, oregano, and plain.
Preheat oven to 160 degrees Celsius
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups of Plain Flour
1 tablespoon black or white sesame seeds (optional)
1 tablespoon finely chopped oregano (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Mix all of the ingredients together gently into a soft dough.
Divide into four pieces.
Roll out each quarter on a lightly floured board until very thin and transparent so you can see your fingers through it.
Cut into strips and place on baking trays.
Brush with olive oil and sprinkle lightly with salt.
Bake for approximately 15 minutes until golden brown.
Cool and store.
A MOTHER'S REFLECTIONS
The Power of Feeling
I am aware today of my high capacity for emotional memory.
It has been healing for me to learn to keep distance and not become attached to or identified with my flow of feeling and thought. This is a transformative intention and practice; to use our mind (feeling and thought) as a finely-calibrated instrument of perception to navigate towards our vitality and joy, to choose what to hold onto and let go of, and to release undigested feeling to flow.
When it comes to memory, mind, and "the Moon in me", I am much more self-responsible and self-empowered now to value and use my feeling capacity to nourish and share my life and light with love. I can cultivate awareness, choice of response, open-mindedness, and open-heartedness.
This is the gift of Karkata, the crab; to dive deep with emotional stoicism and to include ourselves and others in life without becoming swamped or waterlogged by the emotional tides and tidal waves of motherhood. It takes time and practise to use the gift of emotional sensitivity while protecting personal boundaries and remaining objective, aware, and kind.
